Three things autistic people who are level 1 (low support needs) dont mention….

Three things I wish people would understand about me are

  • Sometimes I need “accommodations” and sometimes I don’t.
  • Sometimes even “not criticizing” can still cause me to think you are being critical.
  • My depth perception makes it hard to back vehicles up so when I ask for a simple accommodation, there is a reason for it.

Being austistic is not trendy or cool. I didn’t ask to be diagnosed autistic. If drs back when I was younger had done their job correctly instead of fobbing it off as PTSD I would have had the diagnosis earlier than at 32. I dont know what my future holds. I am a 32 almost 33 year old widow with an 11 year old son. I’m terrified of change.
